TRACKS
Lots of things lined up for Febuary, will begin work on tracks for ‘Andy Whitby E.P 3’ on Nukleuz and the ‘Andy Whitby Remix E.P’ for one of Steve Hill’s label, will keep you posted.
I’m happy to announce Ayla – Ayla (Andy Whitby Vs. Serge & Withenshaw remix) has been signed to HTUK which couples with ‘Anything Like This’ coming out on Synapse for tracks by Matthew Sargent & myself. Top stuff.
FEB CHARTAGE:
Here are the tracks that have been rocking dancefloors nation-wide for me…
1) Ayla – Ayla (Andy Whitby Vs. Serge & Withenshaw remix) (HTUK)
Finally finished, and making an appearance in future Whitby sets from now on, verging on a remake more than a remix, its everything the kids loved about this classic tune…but tougher. It’s basically good, solid Hard Trance from the United Kingdom, 10/10…if you know what I’m saying.
2) Ratty – Sunrise (P.H.A.T.T remix) (Monster Classics)
First of 2 new remixes in my chart by Pierre Elizabeth Pienarr and its uplifting happy trance in its finest form. I love everything about this track, and just adds another reason for Pierre being one of my ‘one to watch’ in 2005. Pienaar’s middle name was made up in the creating of this mini-review.
3) Serge & Green meet Andy Whitby – Anything Like This (original & Ingo and Barratt remix) (Synapse)
”I’ve traveled to the far corners of the earth….and let me tell ya….I’ve never seen anything like THIS!” Our first tune on Synapse and alongside ‘Frozen’ (Nukleuz) its Matthew Sargents finest moment. Great stuff, and a cracking remix to boot from the owners of Gravity Trapp.
4) Sebanelli & Oddbod – Your ass is mine (Original & Madam Zu remix) (Tidy)
”Face down, ass up, that’s the way we like to f*ck!”…Never in a million years did I think the scouse house vocal would take a place in my sets, however, a bouncy remake by Captain Kaye has made it one of the most energetic and best tracks in my box. Frowned on by many yet danced to by thousands, its fun…remember when hardhouse used to be all about that?
5) Enursha – Enursha (ingo & hoffs instrumental mix) (Gravity Trapp)
Possibly the first release on Ingo & Colin’s new label ‘Gravity Trapp’ this is sheer brilliance! Ingo is fast becoming one of the most versitile producers within our scene. Chris Hoff improves with everything he produces. Current hard dance star meets future hard dance star… its enough to make you weep.
6) Jon Langford & Paul Chambers – Yeah but no but (cdr)
Earning a cheer every time I play this, it’s one of the most talked about records around clubland right now and rightly so, it’s no-nonsense party music! “oooooh….forgot to set the video for room101.” Genius.
7) Greg Brookman & Ben Bennet – Untitled (cdr)
Fresh from the Dinner-jacket man camp and it’s his scariest track to date. Dark, twisting, spooky sounds that wouldn’t be out of place if you were lost in the middle of a haunted forest on Halloween night.
8) Ingo & Lee Pasch present Turbulence System – In My Mind (Gravity Trapp)
The follow up to ‘Osaris’ and I love it!! Awesome riff, with the usual combined aspects of Tom & Lee’s greatness. With a riff you find yourself humming for hours after hearing it, tis brilliant stuff.
9) Beastie Snacks – Out of Touche’ (cdr)
MDA & Spherical on the money again with a pop-tastic hard dance remake of the disco funkfilled tune stampeeding across the charts at present. Top banana!
10) Tara Reynolds – Catch Me (cdr)
Tara…tara…tara! Top lady and another top tune! Dark & driving, its everything you’d expect from the mistress of filth. The usual Maddox touch is present and apparently the scratching is really Tara, fire up that crossfader babe!
11) Ingo & Colin Barratt – Concentrate (cdr)
I love this tune. Simple as that. Bassline, riff, vocal…its everything I love about Tom & Colin’s style and makes ‘Scare tactics’ look positively…unscary.
12) Wid & Ben meet Andy Whitby – Virus (cdr)
One day this tune will be finished, one day. As long as Thomas keeps his filthy hands to himself though. Its business as usual, big riff, big bassline and clever vocal.
13) Serge & Greg Brookman – Untitled (cdr)
The long awaited follow-up to the classic that is ‘Frozen’ finally arrives and its everything you’d want from Matthew ‘cream cord slacks’ Sargent and Greg ‘dinner jacket’ Brookman. Using Electric Guitar samples no less it’s a track you’ll be hearing a whole lot of in my future sets.
14) Neon Lights – Let Me Be Your Fantasy (P.H.A.T.T & NR2 remixes) (Masif)
Another great remake of a classic and when your talking remakes, no one does it better than the Masif Boyz, very trancy and uplifting…Pienaar’s breakdown is nothing short of angelic.
15) Josh Wink – Higher State of consciousness 2005 (Vinylgroover & Red Hed remake) (cdr)
Scott ‘don’t call me analhoover’ Vinylgroover is nothing short of amazing in this massive remake of a timeless classic. Replaying all instruments and constructing the track from scratch were the lengths the boys went to for this one, and it shows…one of the biggest tracks in my box.
16) Rob Tissera & Guyver – Feel The Drums (Paul Maddox remix) (Tidy)
Paul Maddox. The Mad dog. Abandon. Azure. OGR. Whatever you want to call him doesn’t change the fact that Paul has changed the face of hard dance as we know it for the better, he’s a producer genius with something fresh in each track. This remix of Bobby & Guy’s track is nothing short of brilliance. Superb.
17) Andy Whitby & Greg Brookman – Bump In The Night (cdr)
Possible first track on the Nukleuz Andy Whitby E.P 3, its far from being finished but early signs are its going to be nice, we’re got a stupidly dark breakbeat garage bassline breakdown which sits perfectly with the eeireeee vibe this track has.
18) Matt EJ – Open Windows (cdr)
After charting Langy’s remix last month I was happy to receive this other version of it, engineered by the mighty Pasch, has a great fucked up vocal snippet leading us through the track before the all-familiar full vocal drops in over the gorgeous breakdown. Creates dancefloor chaos on a weekly basis.
19) Rob Tissera, Vinylgroover & The Red Hed – Beautiful (cdr)
”I am beautiful like youuuuuuuuuu”…sing it with me kids! The long awaited follow up to the HUGE ‘Stay’. Bobby T right on the money as ever with this uber uplifting trancer.
20) Paul Maddox – In it for the kicks (cdr)
With possibly the heaviest, most evil bassline in hard dance today this tune is as original and fresh as it gets, breakbeatbreakdown and maximum kick-factor when it drops back in. Nice.
See you on the floor!
Andy.
